New custom fitted aluminium radiator

Postby scruff123 » Tue Jan 19, 2010 1:35 pm

thought i would share some pics of my new rad, its a full aluminium nissan silvia burnout/drift comp rad lol. 52mm double core
was a relitively easy fit, trans cooler has made a huge difference 2.
getting some other fans soon with a shroud that should fit in just snug.

just got my fans sorted, i had to use a duel fan set up from a holden astra, only fans that were slim enough to fit. they work awsome, really stoked. also folded a deflector up at the botom in front to stop the air going underneath the rad, fans were a close fit with only just enough clearance.

Dam that looks good but you mite need to switch the fans off when you go throw deep water as i can see fans eating your new radiator.

That cowling looks like it was made for the Mu. It probably didnt fit that well on the Astra it was made for.
Are the dimensions of the radiator any different to original. I see an electric fan on my horizon
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

the dimensions are quit a bit different, the new one is wider and thicker but shorter than the original one.

new one

this one is a aftermarket one thet i was using, but it wasnt good enough as its only a 29mm aluminium single core. mine was pritty beat up 2
these cost around $400, my new one was 0nly $230 for a better radiator

Hey nice radiator setup, thinking doing the same on my Mu, just got a few questions. How did you wire it up? like do they come on at a certain temp? or do they run permantly? if so, they wont last long that way.

cheers, each fans wired up through its own relay with seperate fuses etc and the circuits earth out via a thermo fan switch, on at95c and off at 90. i have a switch for each fan in the cabbin so i can turn them rite off wen driving through water

thermo switch is the one with red wires, smaller on is temp.
best to use a thermo switch with 2 wires so it earths through the wires to a good earth, tried ones that earth through themselve but kept burning them out.
