Try tracing the wire from the relay to the glow plugs first It may have a damage that you can fix. Also my diagram shows a dropping resistor but thats a later model. What voltage do you have at the glow plugs?

I've had a good look it that wire and cant see any problems, I haven't tested the plugs as I thought they would be okay being new, could there be a problem with the connecters that screw the metal strip down on to the plugs

It could be wise to measure the resistance of each glowplug and checking the rail for burn marks or other signs its earthing out. Im guessing it doesnt blow the fuse every start so whatever it is is intermittent. Please post the resistances of each glow plug and the ampage of the fuse you used

you can buy aftermarket glow plug timers from auto sparky shops, i have had the glow plug rail hitting on the injector pipes and blowing fuses

What is the correct fuse for the glow plugs?
My book shows each glow plug should be 0.8 to 1 ohm They are in parallel so thats 0.2 to 0.25 ohm so 48 to 60 amps should flow although the resistance increases as they heat up very quickly. It should be a slow blow fuse if its only 40 amps

sorted the problem it was the glow plug bridge shorting out on the head so I was told, also 100 bucks later but that's not to bad, maybe I should look harder
