hi.. does anyone know if there is a trick to getting to the rear lower bolt on the aircon unit?

Battery out first then tripple jointed fingers and lots of naughty words. Its even harder to put back.
Its easier to take the complete bracket off the engine
Why are you taking the air con off?
I trust we are talking the 4jg2 not v6
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

You need a snap on type socket spanner., should be 14ml

I had mine off the 4jb1 many times with only standard tools
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

ive left that bottom rear bolt out for the reason that next time i dont want to undo the damn thing

I have seen two break the mount brackets without the rear bolt.

The easiest way to get the bolt is to disconnect the hoses from the back of the pump but this will degas the system.

Its definitely doable but you will lose skin. Whilst the pump is out rebuild the alternator.
