The "oil pressure sender unit" and the "low oil pressure switch' are both together low down on the block (passenger side) between the engine mount and the starter motor. The wire to the switch may just be loose or half broken.

must be a 4jb1 thing i got my clutch done on sat and went for a lil play down ashley river and i am having low oil pressure to the point at idle oil light comes on.first time its done that, the sender looks like a pain to change in place. if the gauge reads 0 does it cause the light to come on as well or are they seperate and dont influence each other?

They are seperate electrical circuits, although both feed off the same oil gallery.
