Isuzu Fargo 4FG-1 Oil filter issues

Postby BaseCamper » Thu Jun 22, 2023 7:19 am

Hey guys,
Bought a relatively scarce and unique Isuzu Fargo Base Camper 4x4 a few weeks back. I had bought filters (oil and fuel) to do a service last week, only to find the oil filter that was sold to me was incorrect (I think a Ryco Z89A). The filter I took off the van was a Sakura C1525, being a much larger diameter. In trying to match the filter, I was sold a Wix 51050 filter, which at first appeared to be the right diameter, but much longer. Comparing the two filters, the O-ring seal is much smaller, but fitted it believing that it would seal against the filter housing. Upon starting the engine, oil seeped out.

So back to the drawing board and on the hunt for a Sakura C 1525. The Ryco Z8 and Wix 51050 are NOT interchangeable.

Wondering whether anyone has a source for these filters and experienced the same issues? Why would Ryco / Wix etc have a completely different filter recorded against this engine, and also have incorrectly cross-referenced another oil filter?

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Try this http://sakurafilter.com/products/sak001-c-1525 I havnt been able to cross reference but supercheap seems to stock it. A possible match is Wix WL7066
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
