The 4BA1 is the same family as the 4BB1, 4BD1, 4BG1 etc.
The strange thing is it’s not covered in any of the 4B engine manuals I’ve seen so is a bit of an oddball.
What are you trying to fix on it? You may find that the other 4B manuals cover what you need.

Thanks Paul,

I have the 4BB1 industrial manual, and a 4BD1 manual which is closer, but I wonder if the 4BA1 has some unique parts or maintenance.

The paper oil filter element and housing have some differences in gasket and washer arrangement, and there are other engine seals that would probably need replacing - might be some differences there.

12v vacuum oil fed alternator not charging, worn water pump bearings which should be easy, 3 dead glow plugs, valve stem seals are hard - would like to be sure on clearances and methods etc.

1981 model and has 117,000 miles on it and was last road registered in 2004. The truck spent it's life on rough country roads carrying waste oil. Starts relatively easy and runs well, but ideally, I would like to find a TL Series workshop manual - diff is a bit whiny and they're different too, but happy to start with the engine.

Oddball is appropriate

Would also be worth trying some Isuzu truck dealerships. I’ve had luck with Brisbane isuzu getting old parts, as long a you know what you need they can look up parts books.

Yes, they are very helpful. But all I want for Christmas is a workshop manual of my very own :D
