Alright, think the vacuum lines are all sorted... But I'm still getting a rediculous amount of white smoke and no power, I assumed the vacuum lines were causing the turbo not to kick in. Any ideas?

Another update, turbo is spooling up fine but its blowing out alot of oil. Had a mate quickly check out the play in it and he seems to think its fine. If the vacuum hoses were off or hooked up incorectly would that somehow explain why there is excessive oil in the turbo?

Are you saying that your Mu only started smoking after you worked on your starter motor?
It's hard to imagine anything you may have touched while removing the starter motor affecting your turbo.
It could just be coincidental that you had been working on your starter motor at about the same time the oil seal in your turbo failed?

If there is oil before the turbo a catch can will help. All the vacuum comes from the alternator so it won't affect the turbo. Make sure the inlet & exhaust restrictors are open when the motor is running

Yeh I'm fairly certain now thats in a coincidence just trying to rule out every possibility, the oil seems to be coming through the hose from the tappet cover. What could possibly cause this? Thanks Pig I'll have a look into it.

Hi all!
Here is vacuum diagram of my Isuzu Bighorn 4JB1-T (without intercooler, without EGR):

Vacuum diagram 4JB1-T.jpg

Description (from the TFR/TFS workshop manual):
The engine warm-up system is a device which changes the opening of the throttle valve for intake in accordance with the engine rpm, controls the amount of the intake air, and changes the air ratio which is supplied to the cylinder. The device is also provided with such functions as to measure the amount of heat capacity, to close the exhaust throttle valve to raise the exhaust pressure, and to accelerate the rise in compression and temperature, and the increase of fuel.

A catch can will help with the oil. Have a look in the FAQ sections

Catch can from the FAQ section viewtopic.php?f=26&t=909
EGR from the FAQ section viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1877
If you read these sections and follow the links it will explain most of what you need to know
