Turbo

Postby bulldog » Sun May 24, 2009 5:06 pm

Hi there I'm just new to the club, I have a stuffed turbo and early this week will hopefully get one. I have a Bighorn 1994 3.1 TD, there are 2 option's I have and if either of these would do. option 1= 1995 Isuzu Mu 3.1 4jg2 Turbo spec:0612 Serial# RHF5 05 602A ,option 2=1996 Bighorn efi model IHI Turbo/Turbo spec :9512
Serial# 27346e.
Does anyone know if either of these options will be okay.
Help much appreciated.

The bighorn one will have all the inlets and outlets in the right place but unless you are getting the turbo very cheap dont use a second hand one. The turbos used on that engine had a design fault and all die at around 160000km. There is another turbo available with the same spec but better internal heat shield.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

So, what is the better turbo to put on 95/96 Bighorn? Part no and model as I'm looking for a new one too.

Cheers.

Hi Glenn, the new one I put on the Wizard will be the one you need and I got it from MTQ Turbines in Toowoomba (they have a few offices all around Australia) I paid $1000 for it,thought that was not a bad price after the replacement one on the MU cost $1600 (got taken to the cleaners there) Will see if I can find the part no for you over the week end.
Cheers Bruce

That would be dandy. If and when I get one we'll have a turbo party and everyone has to bring spanners!!!!!
