Injector pump 4jg2 3.1tdi

Postby 356221 » Fri May 28, 2010 5:02 pm

Have had a vacuum pipe on top of injector pump break,(On the top plate). Is it a major to put plate off a spare injector pump on, or is it a professional job, assistance appreciated

Do you mean the rubber pipe which is a pressure feed from the turbo or the nipple it attaches to? How did you break that?
From what I can see in the manual it should be straight forward but the pictures are not very good and the manual says send the pump to a shop with the right gear. Do put a new seal in at the same time. This is the most likely seal to fail due to low sulphur diesel

Have bought a reco motor, and it arrived with this pipe broken, presumed leaned against something in transit. Is the small pipe on the uppermost plate,( plate on the very top of pump) Can use original pump, but prefer to use pump with reco motor as it has been tested.

Should be ok be no promises. The engine will run without this pipe but wont adjust fuel to match boost. This only means less power. Take the plate off the old motor first and remember the new seal. They are a pain to do with the engine in place

Keep everything religiously clean. Diesel pumps hate dirt.

If you still have the pipe, it is easy to weld it back on, that is if you can weld. Use some silver solder (easy flow) and a gas plant. My one broke when I was taking the motor out.

Oh yea. Best to unscrew the plate on the top before trying to weld it up.

try some two part epoxy to put it back on, just don't get to messy, that stuff hardens like steel.
I live in my own little world, but its OK they know me here.
