I can almost guarantee its the starter, make sure your termanils are clean and getting a good connection first but more than likely is the starter going Kaput

Ive been told that the isuzu starters have a habit of seizing the front bearing that then eats the casing. It sounds like this has happened on yours. A new starter is the only answer. You can buy aftermarket but these are still the same starter.
When mine went I tried out a starter I was given It made a funny noise so I gave it to my tame sparky who said it was (cant use his exact word). Tried to get mine out. Put a socket on the nuts then the longest breaker bar I own then a length of pipe. Bent the pipe but nothing else happened. Tow started up the driveway with the work corrola (dont use light tie downs for towing but thats in the funnyist opps thread) Took it to tame sparky who put on a hoist and put a 3 meter breaker bar on the nuts. He was worried the studs might break. He then opened my starter and described it as worse than the spare. The casing had worn to the point that the armature winding had worn through on the stator causing a small short. Second hand starter a handful of money and a warning to avoid water and it was down to Red Rocks with waves breaking over the roof opps
