That sounds like the sort of thing that Id try. How about a good pipe wrench (or stiltsons depending on where you went to school)

With the rocker gear removed the valves cant open so even if it does fire it cant exhaust the gas so it wont do much. Also with the timing belt broken there is no drive to the pump so no fuel
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
