Timing Belt and Water pump Quotes

Postby Paulo » Wed Jul 14, 2010 4:16 pm

Hi guys,
I been quoted about NZ$455 to do a timing belt, seals and water pump change on my 3.1diesel bighorn with me supplying all the parts . Does this sound OK ? or it is too much.

Cheers

What do you mean by seals? Timing belt and water pump wouldnt take 4 hours.
interested into why people lift mu's, I have owned a few and fitted 33's to them all, some 12.5 some 13.5. I have never had a problem with rubbing / clearnace. My friends with 35s have a bit of lift but why the million threads about lifting your mu?????

Thanks for the replies guys. I was informed now that the quote they gave me was the worst case scenario.... if they had to do front crank and cam seals . Otherwise it should be between 2 to 3 hour labour.

The 3.1 is the same engine as the jackeroo of the same year
Go to a different place
This reminds me of a story I was told about a Citron that had been bought to wreck as the clutch was playing up. The seller had receipts for a clutch kit, a pressure plate, A friction plate and release bearing. The guy that bought it opened it up and found the date stamp on the clutch matched the date the car was built which explained the lack of spanner marks on the bell housing bolts despite there being 7 hours labour for the clutch replacement. The real problem was a leaking slave cylinder.

18 months ago I paid just under au$1000 for supply and fit:
t-belt
fan/ac/alt belts
4 injectors
radiator flushout
coolant
and fit only water pump (supplied by me)

Charged $250 labour in that bill. T-belt was only $60 (T844)
