4JB1T Tensioner positioning bolt snaped

Postby daone » Sun Sep 26, 2010 7:09 pm

Hi all!

Firstly I want to inform some new Isuzu lovers that when you releasing the tensioner bearing, there is only the tensioner bearing center bolt needs to be removed!!!!

Secondly I need your advise about how to remove the snaped tensioner positioning bolt . It is the bolt got a 8 written on the cap, and attached on the tensioner bearing arm to position the tensioner when load applied.

 As I said on other thread that I am going to do my alternator this weekend. SO I took out my alternator, have to source the alt brush on monday and the MU won't run so I decide to do the cambelt.
Every thing went smothly but the Tensioner after 10Kg load applied. I did remove the Tensioner center bolt and the tensioner positioning bolt. The tensioner positioning bolt snped. I need this bolt to back on.

Please let me know how to get the broken bolt remain in the block out.

Many thanks :(

By the way is there any timing mark on the 4JB1T camshaft pully or just the M8 locking hole?

Cheers :D

And once you got the camshaft pully & the crankshaft pully off how to you bring them back to TDC when reinstall? In my opinion that when you removing the pully center bolt the timing will alter even you had the M8 locking bolt on.

Have you read the FAQ on T/Belt replacement?
Why are you taking the pulleys off?
The crank and cam are keyed.
Do you have a toque wrench that does at least 150 lb-ft ?

Yes I do have a troque wrench form Supercheap Auto. I think the cam shaft seal is leaking, So thinking of doing that,

Finanly I got the stud out using the screw extractor, I was using the easy out, but for easy out you need to drill a well center hole. I my case it is very hard to see weather it is center or not.

So when to the hardware store bought this set. Made life much easier.

Now I am just waitting for the bolt from japan.
