fuel filter and priming pump. injector noise

My fuel filter light came on so I replaced the filter assy.(it is fitted with a primer pump) now I cannot get the primer pump to pump fuel to the Injector pump. any sure ways to overcome this.

also have a clattering sound that seems to be from the injectors, hard to locate exactly but ok when first start up then clatter comes in after about 30 seconds, gets quite loud when moving off then settles to a low level clatter. Is this injector noise or injector pump that's on the way out?
