fuel leak from side off pump

Postby peter6163 » Sun Oct 10, 2010 6:27 pm

ok guys i hope some 1 can send me in the right direction
to start off on the side off the pump there is a cover under it a spring pushing against what i think must be a pressuere compensator, about 2 mounths ago it started to drip from it i replaced the o-ring and it stopped. 2 days ago it started again had a look o-ring, it was oviled and not returning to shape ( o-ring was from a auto shop not certain if rated for diesel) should i be thinking redo o-ring or do i have a bigger problem
any help would be great

Cheers and thanks Peter

As far as Im aware the only seals that can be done in place are the top plate and the accelerator linkage. This doesnt sound like either so sorry its a pump off rebuild
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

There are definately different grades/materials of O-Rings available. Do you know which type you used?
I would lean towards either Nitrile (N70, N90, C70), Flourocarbon (Viton, V75, V90) or Silicone.
