Isuzu Rear Main Seals

Postby moseswal2 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 10:01 pm

Hi

I have a 3.1 and I need to replace the rear main seal, but we don't get parts for the 3.1 in South Africa.Does 2.5, 2.8, 3.0 and 3.1 use the same seals because my only option is to use one from the 2.5, 2.8 or 3.0.
I have very little (normal) sump compression so I don't know why it started to leak.

Thanks

I have to ask, your not over filling it?? I don't really know for sure if the others will fit, but I would guess yes, one or the other club members will get back to you on that

Most Isuzu,s will leak if over filled. Drain to the correct level and See if it still leaks

Mine leaks if I fill it to over the half-way point between low and high. :)

It should be OK, if you drain alittle out, I learned to keep mine just below the full mark, seams like everyone has had the same problem one time or another, I'm sure it will be OK, happy trails

i did 2 rear mains and still leaked!! ended up taking the sump off and took the las big end cap off to find oil was tracking around bolts, sealed that up with a bit goo, put all back togetha and speedy sleeved my crank and on with the new seal, no trouble since!
