Oil in the pipework is pretty standard as they vent crankcase fumes into the crossover pipe before the turbo. Also if the air filter is very clogged it will suck oil from the crankcase vent
I would change all the filters and oil
Have a search for oil catch can. Here is a link to the catch can FAQ viewtopic.php?f=26&t=909

thanks fella, you seem to know allot about these. i do appreciate it
i'll give it a good going over at the weekend. filters and some nice 10w 40 oil
could this cause the engine light to come on if the air filter is black and therefore probably not doing its job??
gotta get confident with this before i take it travelling, at the moment it worries me .

thanks

another thing that can help cause this esp when you have a dirty air filter is overfilling it. Most of these isuzu's dont like being filled to the full mark on the stick, about 2/3rds the way up between low and full is where mine likes to sit. there was a picture somewhere on this site illustrating this

DONT put 10w40 in that engine esspecialy in a cold place like Brighton!
You wont be able to start the engine afterwards. This is because there is a second pump in the engine that has to build 300psi oil pressure for the injectors and the computer wont let the engine fire till the pressure is there. Use 0w30 and high quality synthetic.
Re engine light it is possible need more info. That engine has more brains than I do

hi,
thanks for the above replies.
0w30 then it will be, have heard so many different types of oil, someone even suggested 0w40.

how much oil should it then take to get it to the minimum mark?

the engine light just came on, yesterday, i was driving, car seemed to be ok, and there was nothign different that i could tell. I definately need to service it, i have never seen a air filter in such a poor condition, it was black. And the oil was also like treacle, its obviusly not been serviced for a while, so i'll give it a good going over.

thansk again.

0w40 is fine. 5w30 probably ok. It realy has to be synthetic as well in that engine.
The number of these that have been serviced at the local garage then first cold day refused to start is staggering. They go back to the garage who say its the same oil as normal engines take so cant be the oil. They wrong
