Fuel lines from injector pump to injectors

Postby stardog » Wed Jan 26, 2011 12:16 pm

I have a leaking inlet manifold gasket and need to replace it. I was wondering the best way to take the pressure out of the pipes from inj pump to the injecters do i just unplug the wires on fuel cut off solinoid on pump and run engine until it stalls.
Or is there a diffrent way of doing it to get rid of pressure before i undo these 4 pipes.
Cheers stardog.

Just loosen them a little at a time There isnt a lot of fuel in the lines so it doesnt realy squirt out
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Its not a common rail so you don't have to put up with 30,000+ psi.

Pricks of things to work on!!!

Just one more question when i reinstall them will they self bleed to get all the air out of the lines or use priming pump on filter.

I just leave the line nuts a bit loose on the injectors then wind the motor over till i can see fuel and no air coming around the nuts then do the nuts up and it should start

After I had reinstalled my inlet manifold I just reconnected everything and it fired up again straight away.

Thanks everybody for the info on doing this. i was only going to undo manifold and slide back and try and fit new gasket with out undoing the lines.
Until i looked inside the manifold and seen all of the oily gunk in there so i want to try and clean it out as much as i can.
