What does that button do?

Postby RobDogg » Tue Apr 12, 2011 6:36 pm

Hi Guys,
Awesome Awesome site by the way, CONGRATS
Not sure if this is the right place to put this question, but here goes
I have a 1995 Bighorn (love it to bits) and wondering what the button on the far most L/H side of the dash console does. Its got what looks like a picture of an engine on it and A glowplug symbol in the middle,
Any ideas?
Thanks Heaps for the most helpful info already used by looking at the site

I think thats the engine pre heat button........DONT USE IT UNLESS ITS BELOW -5
its a vaccum operated butterfly valve thing is to restrict flow to make the engine warm up quicker if you are in really cold condition

cold weather warm up system. Only use it if very cold and short trips.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

is regulated by the coolant temp sensor anyway, so it shuts off above a certain temp and the illumination light on the button goes out so there's no harm in having it on 24/7 as it will only activate below a certain temp. got it running a few times in the morning at my place.. lol. that was before the egr removal etc, now it's juts a cool looking button :)
