fuelling problem on 3.1 pickup

Postby pauld » Wed Jul 22, 2009 7:07 am

Ive just fitted a new head on my 3.1 pickup, having cooked and cracked is predecessor, and now the engine doesnt want to fuel properly. Ive replaced the fuel filter and Im wondering if there could ome dirt in the pump. The symptoms are:- motor starts, wont rev, clouds of white smoke, sits about 1200 rpm and seems to "hunt" about 50-100rpm any one got any ideas? the engine has only 80k miles and up until its little overheat never gave any probs
in anticipation
Paul

p.s. any info on where to get a manual would be greatyly appreciated as Im flying blind at the moment!!!!

White smoke is a sign of retarded (???) injector pump timing.

If it smaellsstrongy of diesel its fuel Look for an unbled injector
If it doesnt smell much its water which says all is not right with the new head and gasket
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
