Hard acceleration and smoke

Postby B8MYHK » Tue Aug 25, 2009 8:20 pm

Hi guys
Any ideas as to why when under load there appears to be smoke from exhaust. Vehicle is running and accelerating well. Even better after changing fuel filter. Smoke appears black or grey at times. Gentle acceleration hardly notice it. Towing boat etc appears more or when accelerating up through gears. Ok going down.
suggestions?

If its a 2.8, then it sounds like its working as per design ;)

Mine always smoked when you put the boot in, usually grey, and most noticable at night in the headlights of following cars

its a jazz so should be a 3.1. Diesels do smoke under load but how much is acceptable.
If worried but a bottle of good injector cleaner in the next tank of fuel

Sorry. It's a 3.1. i have been putting injector cleaner in so maybe need a better brand. I think I read on a previous forum of someone having their system flushed by a firm in Glenfield. Might check this out. As I say it pulls well etc . Does show more at night in the following lights. Getting a bit paranoid I think.
Cheers

A process called carbon clean is done by several diesel shops Suposed to work well but its just shy of $200
