when I was still playing with cortinas people wer putting ld28s into everything from landies to hqs. Imagine the talk at the pub when someone bought a local one tonne hq with a worked 327 chev and put a diesel in it

both the falcons (1975 falcon xb car) and a (1986 falcon xf ute) have 5 speed manual nissan ld28 diesels in them . great motor, my fav =). they are a 2.8L straight 6, economical, good power . They are well known for there reliability. The xf has done 410 000 km on the body and about 450 000 km on the motor. the xb has done 370 000 km on the car and 300 000 km on the motor. there cool. the mazda . . . its a factory 1.7L diesel. (heap a shit) . doesnt matter thow because the insurance wrote it of today so its gone =) haha, I hit a land slide and it dominated the sump and wheel..so its gone. we were very tempted to put a spare ld28 that we have in to the bighorn, but then i found a head for it.
thanks for asking

that would be the motor from the nissan laurel?
A freind of the family had one.It had close to half mil km on it when the body fell apart. It was used for towing a boat from Balclutha to Teaunau on a regular basis

yup thats the one geeves. they came in skylines, laurels, maximas and old patrols. some of the patrol ones were turbocharged. the one in the xb is out of a laurel and the one in the xf is out of a skyline (i think). both identicle but the ute goes better because of the diff ratios.

http://www.lafanbao.com/en_index.asp
http://www.lafanbao.com/En_Product.asp? ... Name=ISUZU

the manufacturer on the box is kosher even if Ive never heard of them before.
2 things of note- Manufacturer is offering 50000km warrentee but the trader only 20000km. This is still as good as Mr Holden
Trader has been a trademe user since 2007 with a rating of 34 good and 2 bad trades but he currently has over 30 things for sale. Sounds a little fishy but might be ok. His Toyota water pump is half what I paid for the same item at BNT

ld28 wouldnt fit into a bighorn would it. Falcon and holden 6 are 780mm long about 60mm to long to fit without major mods

It might fit. The early Jackeroos had the Holden red motor as an option but that was before air con needing some of the space
