Daniel if you have diesel in your oil, only one way it got there that I know of, the main front seal on your injection pump went, have to take off your pump and have a new seal put in. :? might as well get the whole pump redone while you have it off. cheers Wayne

I thought all 3.1s were belt drive if so there should be no way of diesel getting into the oil through the pump

the book shows a gear drive version which I think is in some Jackeroos. If your engine has a metal front cover instead of plastic this will be the cause. Also explaind the bad running.
Hope it hasnt done other damage.
If it has a plastic front cover then Im with pig75 on this and no idea how tyhe diesel got in the oil

could be washing the bore with diesel so much that it is going past the ring and straight into the sump... maybe. or something to that effect.
Cheers,
Andrew

You fellas are correct, If its a timing belt motor than its not getting in thru the pump, sounds to me like worse problems, I'm used to working on Cummins, no belts on them.
