a/c compressor seized

Postby reptilechick » Sun Nov 01, 2009 5:38 pm

Hi all,

Still struggling with my a/c compressor and gettin it fixed. I have had numerous different reports from differnt ppl and companies. (I think I wrote about this in the old forum) I am ready to just pay someone big dollars to fix the bloody thing for me as its hot now and so uncomfortable driving.

Can anyone tell me what to do!? I have 94 3.1 MU. Have been told I need to replace EVERYTHING, tx valver, drier/reciever etc and then some have just said get the compressor reconditioned. Well I did buy a recon one and had it put in but the system wasnt flushed properly and that one seized in 10mins....NOT HAPPY!! I am over chasing and chasing for things! I am heading to qld for a month from wed, will be in bris then make my way up the coast to Townsville. If anyone can help me out, I will be eternally grateful!

Any place that would work on a system that had an internal compressor fault and not flush the system properly and not replace the receiver dryer should not have a license to work on AC systems. As for replacing the whole system depends how bad the original system is? A complete system off a Rodeo should bolt in

it was a cash job on a wknd from a mates brother who is a mechanic and does a/c's. I got my money refunded for the compressor.
As for the rodeo one, does it have to be same yr and engine size? or do I try for jackeroo?
I have looked at gettin all the parts from NZ but still not had luck :( over it!!! I just wanna drive comfortably again :(

A TF rodeo should fit they are a bit different in the condenser and receiver dryer but seeing that the MU is basically the same as a rodeo from the doors forward it should all fit

Rodeos never came with a 3.1. But the compressor should mount the same as the 2.8

thanx pig, I will try that avenue. Previously giving the wreckers the numbers on my compressor has brought me no luck.
