engine miss 4jg2 3.1 t.d

Postby themadaussie » Wed Sep 21, 2016 9:28 pm

Hi I need some advise please, as I have sent my truck in to be scanned with
no luck......
I have been told it can't be done grrrrrr.....
I have a 3.1L turbo diesel 1997 with OBD 2 plug...
when driving it has a miss like a dead spark plug miss firer but I don't have any spark plugs it was around 80 kph then it would be gone and now its 75 kph to around
105 kph drives me mad! but its not all of the time?
I have a feeling it's a TPS sensor but which one? the pump or the throttle pedal ?

How can I test?

I have just rebuilt the engine with new sleeves, pistons, rings, cam shaft built up and re-ground the cam followers changed with new ones ,head, injectors replaced valves etc......
got the parts from a Isuzu parts specialist here in New Zealand but the parts were crap as not been gen parts which I was thinking I was getting or to an equal quality , the engine reconditioner had to change all of the bearing shells as they did not meet Isuzu specs, and would not use them and ring gaps were wrong in the pistons.
we had to use the liners and pistons.... "cast ones chrome rings"
The seal kit was different to the seals which were in the motor and I was
told to use them as the gen Isuzu seals were unavailable so we put them
in and now they leak oil really bad and to fix them it is a motor out job
as it is the mains seals front and back...... the whole gasket set was wrong I could only
use 4 out of the set which were the manifold ones....
and after 15,000 km's I have a knocker motor till it warms up "Piston slap" Chinese piston which was changed ......
but it goes well with heaps of grunt I do around 1500 km's to 1800 km's per
week.
But the motor shake was always there before it seized up.
But i'm not sure what to do about the problem?
The wife is grumpy as the parts used were around $1700.00 and I used so little of them and spent another $340.00 on more parts, plus $1980.00 on the
engine recondition , the head needed work and it was new the valves would not fit in 5 of them and the block needed work.
The Isuzu parts dealers don't want to about it, and the engine reconditioner work is not as fault as its parts....
but the engine miss is my baggiest worry now. I am leaking around 600 mls to a 1 L to every 2000 km's
I only seem to get 580 km's at the most to a full tank of fuel now and I do mainly open road driving , while my friends does 760 km's to a tank.
I have no smoke out the back on start up and not much when hitting the passing lanes.
The motor is smooth at idle has heaps of power no smoke..

I run a 3" exhaust system from the turbo to the rear , 4 core all alloy rad
so can someone advise me taa :D

you can flash code them from memory when i worked for isuzu, missing can be caused by faulty control sleeve in the injector pump if its a efi pump, just a suggestion hard to pin point on the net
