Slight miss under light throttle 2.6 rodeo

Postby Chopz » Tue Jan 31, 2017 10:19 pm

Hi all, Chopz here
First post for me, just bought a 2.6 rodeo crewcab, using it to build on a block of land down in tassie. Stoked with the truck so far.. isuzu rocks.

Alas, it has a very slight miss under light throttle.
More throttle does not miss, wot no miss either.
193,000kms
Prevoius owner replaced:
Dizz cap, leads, plugs, MAF sensor, i think it also had timing belt done 177,000kms.
Injectors cleaned

In trying to solve the miss i have done:
Checked plugs gapped to 1mm
Replaced all vacuum hoses after blocking all hoses to test
Compression test cold 130psi, 135, 135, 140 its a bit low?
Cleaned airfilter
Checked for sparking at night across leads
Cleaned TB just a wipe clean no solvents yet, no play in shaft
Coil resistance primary 1.7ohm, secondary 9.5k

Yet to check because of lack of tools or efi manual:
Timing, but dissy is on the factory mark i can see at rear of rocker cover
Valve clearance but no manual for clearance specs

The truck starts very nicely very quickly, idles fine, makes good power, just missing under light throttle say doing 80kph on highway every 10-20 seconds, but isnt regular at those intervals. Does this when engine is both cold and hot. More throttle solves the miss. Wot is fine. Doesnt blow smoke, although exhaust tip is slightly black and sooty ring on outside.
Dash temp sender is shot, only reads 1 needle above cold when hot. If the dash temp is shot im thinking also the ECM temp sender may be shot too, maybe causing the miss because of over fuelling?

I found the dash temp underside of intake,
Where is the ECM temp sensor?
I believe i may be missing an EGR valve, and a VSV of somesorts. Ive got a fast idle control and a fuel pressure vsv i think, thats it. Canister vac just tees into the intake manifold.

I really need a manual.. but im in the bush standing ontop of the roof on tippy toes trying to get reception to post this.. repco up in town didnt have a manual on the shelf.
Didnt even have a timing light..

Any ideas from you gurus would be appreciated as id love my isuzu to be smooth and stable!

Oh btw im getting 175kms from 20l city, 390kms from 40l highway.
No check engine light, but havent read the codes yet down know what to connect yet

Any ideas well appreciated cheers guys
