They might be cammed and timed differently but otherwise they will be the same engine. You may have to swap over the sump and oil pick up though.
Check the dipstick is in the same place. I remember a vauxhall engine a flatmate had about 30 (might be 40) years ago. He swaped a 3.3 cresda engine into a 3.3 victor. It needed a sump swap but when we got it in we found that we couldnt put the dipstick in as it hit the sump so no way to check oil. Its a pity I dont have a picture of the original engine. When the bonnet was opened one of the pistons was sitting on the crossmember.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
