4jb1 t piston identification

Postby 88formula » Wed Mar 29, 2017 4:05 am

Hi friends!
I got a 91 pick up, and previous owner ran it out of oil, I'm looking to start a rebuild, but I haven't been able to identify which pistons I need.
I don't have the truck on my property yet, but I was wondering if there is an identification stamp on the block or the head that will give me more information about this motor.

hi there as far as i know there is no identification on the block or head, you will have to take off the head,
the only real difference is the square bowl 68kw with the four hole injectors or the round bowl 74kw with the five hole injectors.

There are different grade but if it ran out of oil you probably need to do the sleeves as well
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

If I were to use round pistons in place of square ones, would there any adverse effects?
