4jg2 injectors

Postby GrantMcrae » Sun Jun 03, 2018 6:39 pm

Hi looking for a bit of help here
I decided that it was time to shout the old girl some new injectors , no real reason was running ok before hand , anyway I got a set of reconditioned injectors on trademe for about $150 each which I thought wasn’t bad price wise.
Fitted them taking care to line up dot marks toward glow plugs , but on running the knocking was unreal and clouds of smoke from unburn’t diesel , did all the usual things like cracking lines to bleed air etc.
So there is clearly something not right here so fitted old injectors again.
So my question is to any 4jg2 Guru , is there different injectors between different models as my one is an efi fly by wire as this is the only thing I could think of , it wasn’t running rough on one cylinder was all them , so was consistent, don’t see what I could have done wrong here . any thoughts?

I think there could be differences but thanks for the warning as I need to be doing injectors on mine soon due to a big puff on start up and a loss of power.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
