4JG2 front pulley

Postby andy120 » Tue Sep 11, 2018 2:29 pm

Anyone got a cunning idea how to undo the front crankshaft pulley? I have tried using the starter/socket, and loading a strong bar then belting it with a hammer. I have undone the 4 bolts holding the outer part, but it will not go over the washer.

If doing a cam belt the 4 bolts is the correct way. Dont undo the large bolt unless you have to. Its just as hard to tighten back up. Crowbar wedged in the starter gear is about the only way in an auto

I had it off to do the belt 3 or so months ago, its all got antiseize on. Its a manual. The washer is loose, a bit concerning.

Now im in trouble, broke the bolt head & 15 odd mm off. pretty much flush with the crankshaft.

If the bolts broken you have a problem. If you are lucky the bolt isnt bottomed out or cross threaded and it is now little more than finger tight. If that fails the next step would be an easy out if you have room with the radiator out but beyond that its a engine and crank out job
