4JJ1 problem

Postby yowiie » Wed Mar 11, 2020 5:17 pm

I need some desperate help.
I have an issue with my 4JJ1
The vehicle was driving fine until I came to a decent hill, so accelerated to maintain the speed, was almost at the top and the engine died and engine light came on. I pulled over to to see if i could find and visible isses but found none. The car was still idling ok, so i proceeded the next 150klms. The car never went into limp mode, but i Could not go any faster than 100klms/hr om the down hill or straights. On any hill climbs I could get any more that 70KLms/hrs
The vehicle has been at the mechanics for 2 days and I arent any further ahead, the scan tool doesnt show any codes, so I arent sure of the problem
I cannot drive the vehicle as there is no power at all
Help me!!!

Either the scv in the injector pump is faulty or theres something in the airflow meter are the 2 most common issues on them, also egr valves play up aswell my my pick is scv since it faulted under power

Not all the time, also the egr butterfly in the inlet can jam, but that definitely bring up a egr code, you said engine light came on so there will be a code stored, is the garage using a tech2 or generic scan tool?

It’s a generic machine,!i have been on another forum and it was suggested that it could be the scv at fault

I worked for isuzu for 12 years so do know them very well, generic scan tools only tell you half the information

So I believe, what’s your thoughts on the scv being at fault

Very high in 07 to early 09, in 09 they fitted revised and far better scv but they still fault now and then, need to get tech2 on it

Suction control valve, it goes into the injector pump and controls the flow rate of the fuel pump electronically
