4jg2 bent pushrods

Postby ethisuzubighorn » Fri Apr 10, 2020 12:32 pm

hello everyone I've just joined the group as I'm trying to find some information on why the pushrods have bent on my isuzu bighorn. so the engine runs but only on 3 cylinders. I took the valve cover of took the rockers off and noticed the very front pushrod was half missing only the top half is left and all 7 other pushrods are slightly bent too. anyway I took the head off to see if there was any damage to the pistons there isn't and no bent conrods. I also took the valves out to see if any are bent or sticking but all look in perfect working condition. then thought maybe the timing was out (eg) jumped a few teeth but no the timing is all set correctly. so now I dont really know what would of coursed the bent pushrods?

Previous owner dropped the belt bent the rods and straightened them not very well. ????? New set of push rods and you should be good to go
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

They also break cam followers so make sure they are all ok before buy parts, I have some pushrods, rockers etc, but couriers are very hit and miss at the moment
