Gday all
After opinions from the the brains trust that have been on here longer than I. With regards to piston types on the 4JB1, Is there any general trend in the later round bowl pistons being more susceptible to cracking than the early square bowl. Nearly all the pistons I’ve seen with cracking have been later round bowl. Keen to know if this is a general trend

Yeah I've blown a set of round bowl 4jb1 and about 3 months ago pushed the gudgeon pins right through the pistons on a 4jh1 they are round bowl pistons also

Yeah I have steered away from the JH1 for a performance build because of the smaller gudgeon pins used. The bigger ones in 4jb1 are the same size in 4JJ1s and they survive pretty well in them
