New Air Filter

Postby Viking » Fri May 15, 2009 5:22 pm

Hi
I'm in need of new Air Filter for Mu 1994, 3.1L . I'm considering replacing my old one with K&n or maybe just the basic Ryco but I can not find any part numbers. Can some please assist me with this. I have managed to find one part number for K&n E-1009 but I'm not sure whether it is correct.

Also If I was to go with K&n is any modification need it.

Cheers everyone...

Great info...

Time to go shopping, so my Jazz can breath little better. Any idea of the part number for K&n filter?
Does K&n improve the performance, or are they just better because they can be reused.

Thanks

There different part numbers but the same part
A1302 air
A1388 is a heavy duty number
either will fit the MU/JAZZ

If you could get me the number that would be great. It would be good to compare the price difference between to two. Did you see any performance increase or better diesel economy with the use of K&n?

Cheers

Some people notice a difference but its hard to know as hardly anyone has sampled a brand new paper filter then fitted the KN.
Biggest benifits are that you can clean them. (I see your wagon sitting on nice dusty sand) and if you have a snorkel any water getting down to the filter due to rain etc wont destroy it. I had to change 3 paper filters in 6 months before fitting a finer filter which has been cleaned twice in 4 years
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

I had a post in the old regarding this, you have gotten the part number there, anyway here is the link again to read if you haven't http://clubisuzu.proboards.com/index.cg ... 396&page=1

I think mentioned to measure your old filter dimension and then go to the K&N web site and double against 1009.
The reason I say to check is that there are a few different size air boxes out there, as I found out the hard way. Don't go on what a web site or book says for a MU, actually take out the paper one and measure it or hand it to the sales person.

I know that my K&N filter is the above mentioned, good like finding someone who has it in stock, I got mine shipped from the states,...took 2 months.

When I get time I'll do a FAQ on Standard vs K&N air filters.

Thanks you all for your assistance, it is the E-2417 filter as stated in your previous post. All I now need to do is find one.

I'm now searching for the K&n filter, fingers crossed. I have also stumbled on this thread http://clubisuzu.proboards.com/index.cg ... hread=2686 which has answered my questions regarding power increase and filters. That is the same place I had my car few weeks ago to clean my inlet manifold and do a dyno test. Now I'm hoping the filter will give me back some power and better fuel economy, since it have not been changed for awhile.

Cheers

By looking at the stats between the My E-1009 and the E-2417 its look like the 2417 is only approx 1cm longer which makes for a better seal, and the sounds like the better choice.

IF ANYONE HAS FITTED ANY K&N FILTERS TO THEIR MUs (2.8 or 3.1) AND TROOPERS PLEASE PM ME YOUR PART NUMBERS PLEASE SO THAT I CAN MAKE UP A FAQ ON FILTERS

Just would like to give the last update. The E-2417 fitted perfectly into mu car, cost $140.

Cheers all for your help.
P.S. Lets hope my diesel consumption goes down and I get more power.

Over and out

it may not, I liked the little extra omph it givs and found my slf putting foot to pedal to floor more often, so it didn't really help my consumtion.

Glad it worked for you, jut make sure you check regulary, an after dusty trips cause the dust and oil create a bit of a mess, a snorkel pre-filter also helps too.

Its a must to keep the k&n filters well oiled, its the oil that filters the small particles out. The recharge kits are rather cheap and last for ages. Also remember to clean the filter at the recommended intervals so it doesn't get clogged up.
Oh how i miss my mu, the lux is just not the same :(
