Hi, is there an easy and cheap way to stop the fan inside the heater to stop squeeling?

Spray the bearing with crc but you cant do anything till you get to it which is sufficiently hard that you might as well replace the bearing

You would think that the people who design vechicles would make it easy to get to things that have moving parts!! It would make life so much easier!!!!

Parts that take 18+years to wear out dont need to be that easy to get at although it helps. The heater isnt impossible to get out although I would put more than an afternoon aside for it.
Talk to a good auto sparky They may have a cheap trick

thanks for the advise so far. I found one fan thats under the glove box very easy to get to, it looks in ok condition spins by hand with no noise or wobble. Is there another fan in the unit behide the center console radio/fan controls?

Have a listen with the fan on. Im not aware of another fan. Be careful Fan will take an ear off if you let it and I believe that would hurt

Shot PC case fans (for example) still can be turned by hand, but when you attached to a power source are unable to turn under power. Could be the brushes, if its easy enough try to hook upto a power source, but as geeves said watch your fingers. I have a friend here at work who attemped a similar venture and lost the tip of his thumb when the fan turned on while he was holding it.
Cheers,
Andrew
