Spotlights

Postby 98Rodeo » Wed Sep 22, 2010 6:03 pm

Hiya,

Im just about to wire up my new spotties and was wondering the easiest way to tap into the high beam wire so i can only have the spots on when the high beams are on (as is the law here in WA) they are also able to be switched off so only the high beams are on.
In case anyone is interested I am wiring them up like this...

High beam wire to switch, switch to relay(pin 86) , relay to spots (pin 87(x2))
Battery to relay (pin 30)
spots to earth
relay pin 85 to earth

My car is a 98 rodeo ute (aus) if they are any different to the Mu's

your pinout is one option. I would probably go high wire to relay, relay to switch, switch to lights, lights to earth. Not overly sure why I would do it this way around or if it makes any difference except it would use the relay more...

i have the relay pins etc under control, was wondering if there is a plug under the dash or near the steering column and which wire the high beam should be, really dont want to pull the dash out again, has been out about 10 times now

I set my spots up with the relay under the bonnet. I then taped into the wireing loom for the headlights to get the high beam. I also ran a wire to a switch on the dash to turn them off when needed.
