dash problem?

Postby brissieman1 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 7:00 pm

Hi everyone, Newby here, i have a 95 dual cab rodeo with a 4jb1t engine, now the problem i have is that at a certain rev range the dash warning lights flash at regular intervals and the volt meter goes up and down.....i have noticed that when i turn the head lights on, all of this dissapears. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

seems to have fixed the dash warning lights problem but i still have a volt meter that surges up and down when the head lights are off might be the voltage regulator?

it likely that the alternator diode pack (regulator) is ready to carck it. they're not really a user replaceable item as they're an internal pack. best to take the alt to your fav sparkie who should be able to check it out for minimal cost.

bit the bullet and managed to get a new 80amp alternator off ebay for under $300. I changed the charge relay and it just came back again so just waiting to receive the new alternator now.
