horn wiring for the OEM isuzu steering wheel

Postby JJCarEnthusiast » Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:52 am

i bought a generic steering wheel. seems i didn't like it fair enough so i want to put back the OEM steering wheel. when i am about to put it in place, i noticed the wiring in my car don't fit the OEM steering wheel anymore. i have no idea how did the electrician do it. what should i do to put back the original steering wheel? what does the steering wheel horn button wiring look like?

thanks a lot. :)

I think its just one wire coming up to a copper ring that sits on the steering colum behind the steering wheel. There should be another copper ring/pin thats in the back of the wheel itself. when you push the horn the pin/ring makes contact with the other copper part and "grounds out" the horn, completing the electrical circuit.
Hope that makes sense and is some help.

ok thanks man, after chatting with my buddy, he said that the adapter itself has another wiring to suite with that of the aftermarket steering wheel. hehehe i didn't know that :D

Ah, all explained, most after market wheels come with mounting bosses so that one wheel, with the right boss, will fit heaps of different vechiles.

yeah, every aftermarket steering wheel must be coupled with an adapter to fit the vehicle you intend to fit it in. in the philippines the ordinary adapter is called "bosskit" while there are original momo adapters that cost a heap more than bosskits.
