remote start alarm kit

Postby kcsoft » Fri Apr 22, 2011 11:23 pm

does anyone know if a remote start alarm kit can be fitted to a 2.8td isuzu mu??
is it possible to get the remote start system working? how hard would it be to install the remote start (i've done alarms/immobilisers before)?

has anyone done this before in a diesel??

i can get them cheap from china and am really keen to do it (the mu is an automatic) to warm-up in the morning and get the air con going etc.

plus i've seen it on some of the riceburners around town and think it's really cool!! it will go well with my blue underbody lights (RICE!!!)

PS just joking about the lights.

Put the lights on and everyone will know you never drive off road. They will smask in an instant.
Remote start is easy enough the only catch is that turbo timers can be a pain to get working right with the alarm. You either get "cant set alarm till engine stops" or "alarm goes when engine stops"
I realy dont like remote start. If you wire it up wrong it can start in gear and run someone over. I think they are illegal in NZ after someone died in Auckland

sounds like i'm on the right track.

the alarm system has a turbo timer too.
i will be setting it up so it can't stard in D or R, only P or N, i didn't think an auto would start in gear even with the position switch bypassed.
i was thinking of underboody led strips mounted on the body as high as i can get em, neons really are a thing of the past now, led's are low power consumption, no heat, and best of all come in 60cm waterproof strips with some fancy double sided tape that is supposed to be the goods for around AUD$5!!! , so far i've replaced most of the dash and interior lights with led's and hope to never have to replace them again.

That switch is the only thing stopping the starting.
Re the lights I have dents in my cross members. If there had been anything under there made of less than 5mm steel it wouldnt be there now

sounds like you do some pretty hardcore offroad alan, i really only go to the beach and use 4x4 low range when i get stuck in a soggy driveway. it's fun to leave two big holes in their driveway first!!!

First the disco lights then the lowering kit then the 25 profile tyres and rear wing.
Please stop before the 20000 paint job

the pearlescent paint is next... then some ricey tyre valve caps, airplane wing, some computerised stereo system with gps and dvd and crap, 5 subwoofers, lowered 30mm from the ground and hang some noodle boxes hanging from the bumper.

sounds good..... file it under joke of the week.
