Washer bottle stopped working

Postby mrlogan » Sat Jun 06, 2009 12:00 pm

I have a holden rodeo crew cab, 1999 model.

The washer bottle stopped working the other day.

I used a multimeter to check that power was getting to it and there was, also used an external power supply to check that the motor on the washer bottle worked, and it did also.

Interesting thing is when the bottle is connected to power the wipers do not move when trying to wash the windscreen, disconnect the power and the wiper then move but without water of course.

Not sure what is going on, they were working fine, nothing has changed, then they just stopped.

Thanks for any ideas on what is causing this.

I'm only guessing but you may have a short somewhere, it could be the motor in the wash bottle or could be in the wiring. Good luck all the same.
Oh how i miss my mu, the lux is just not the same :(

Sounds like an earth problem ...
Check the earth on both the wiper moter and the washer pump

will check the earth on both and see what happens, don't think its the wipers as they work when the bottle is disconnected so I think the culprit is the washer bottle.

Thanks for the tips so far, very much appreciated.

Ended up being the switch on the steering column.

Replaced that and all is good, cost a bit though.....

Good to hear, I hate lingering issues that just don't get solved!
