dash brake warning light

Postby mattmannz » Tue Jun 23, 2015 8:01 pm

A few months back the brake light on the dash stayed on. I didn't worry about it, assumed it would be the handbrake switch.

Failed WOF on it today. Have tons of vacuum and heaps of fluid. Anyone know the test procedure for the sensors?

Is switch under the centre console?

There is normally a switch mounted to the handbrake lever mechanism and also a switch (fluid level sensor?) on the brake master cylinder resevoir.

the old bighorn did this once due to gunge on the handbrake lever not letting it return properly. Overgenerous use of crc fixed it. Otherwise you have a fluid sensor in the brake resivoir a vacume sensor and possibly wheel sensors for worn brake shoes. Just a matter of finding and testing in turn
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Was the vacuum switch on the booster. Unplugged it.
