1990 trooper diff ratio

Postby tertle » Sat Nov 12, 2016 6:31 am

Morning team, I've a 1990 2.6 trooper, Ive just re vin'd and it passed nicely, rebuilt engine a bit and slowly getting rid of surface rust here and there. I've picked up a LSD 4.5 ratio. Unfortunately the old girl doesn't have an options tag on the firewall.

I've been hunting for a good spec sheet etc for all the bits and bobs that it has, if anyone knows where I could look things up and or tell me what ratio the diff would be that would most likely be that would be great.

Thanks

Lift one rear wheel and turn by hand while watching the driveshaft. Count the turns of the driveshaft to one turn of the wheel and half the result. It will be very close to either 4.3 or 4.56
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Thanks Geeves, Ok will give that a go, otherwise I will drop it out and count up the cogs etc was just hoping that they ran with a specific ratio back then, as it would be easier to organise one to replace the 4.5 I've got!
