gear box compatibility 4JA1

Postby FreeWheelie » Tue Dec 05, 2017 1:42 am

Hello guys, I have a 1996 Isuzu Campo (Pickup) 2.5 TD 4x4 here in Germany, while pulling a trailer very suddenly transmission made bad metallic noices in all gears except 4th gear.
Question: will a tranny off a 3.1 TD 4x4 bolt right on my engine? Where can I find the Transmission number/ code? I found a number on mine: SK57143.
used Parts are very limited here,
Thanks Dirk

3.1 will bolt up to engine but will have to modify driveshafts and gearbox mount, may have to modify gear levers abit aswell

So I understand the 3.1 transmission is actualy larger/longer and drive shaft will be to long?
What's the location of the tranny number? I found L12779 on the bell housing, and 168*5 at the tranny.
Thanks Dirk
