free wheel hubs vs drive plates

Postby slightlydodgy » Sun Mar 21, 2010 5:12 pm

Just having random thoughts, :? My ute usually doesnt go far on the road especially during winter and spring. i think that my manual hubs might need looking at -dont sound happy on hard surfaces especially drivers side and click a bit when under presure (no its not the cv thats just been replaced for making different noises) and was wondering about replacing them with permanent drive plates all or part of the time. can i have your random thoughts please :D

You could make a simple spacer that locks the drive gear in place inside the hub quite easily. The Jazz at Wn picapart had drive plates.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Is it liable to damage anything while on the road?

Won't damage anything as long as it's not in 4wd. It will use more fuel
