Seperating transfer case of 4jg2 auto gearbox. Possible?

Postby mr57757 » Thu Feb 29, 2024 12:45 pm

Greetings people, does anyone has info/tips/knowledge on seperating the transfer case of 4JG2 auto trans? I think the japanese 4JG2 bighorns came with a A340E gearboxes? or AW30-40LE? I'm not even sure which is which.....

But the thing is, mines has been leaking ATF between the gearbox itself and transfer case. Most likely old seals though. I do plan to repair it by myself but I'm questioning whether the transfer case itself can be seperated without dropping the whole gearbox... Do share and if there's a similar thread, do post links.

Yes they can be separated but unsure if it can be done on the vehicle. Modifiers often use other versions of the same auto mated with this transfer case to make easier engine swaps
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
