Welding Front and Rear diffs

On our river truck we are thinking about welding both diffs up(if the gearbox is fixable)

Just some thoughts on my minds, wouldnt it be real hard on gear? even tho it wont be on road?

What about traction? i no it will go off sick in a straight line, but wat about trying to turn up a slope etc?

I would not weld the front

no reason not to weld the front if you have manual hubs...
if you have auto hubs dont do it,
might be a bit hard to turn up slopes with the front welded... at least if you run into problems here with an air locker you can turn it off!

You could weld the back but remember the whole forum and all the good books say dont do it. The gear is strong enough to take it if your welds are good enough but it will cut up tracks and be a pain to steer especially on good surfaces. If your welds break the diff will self destruct pretty much instantly
Before doing this remove the front sway bar and you will be amazed how much extra traction you get without extreme mods
