rear caliper support bracket and guide bolts

Postby stardog » Fri Apr 02, 2010 5:55 am

Hi guys over the last week i have been doing some servicing on my 94 mu new cv boots oil change ect anyway thought i would check the back brakes. Becuase they didnt seem to be working so good when i was undoing the guide bolts one broke off in the support bracket becuase they was rusted and seized pretty bad. just wondering where to get a relplacment one from i assume being a 3.1 is diffrent to a 2.8 motor mu i think they are bigger can i use one of a rodeo or a jackaroo same year of make. I drilled out the broken part in there but still a bit dodgy with half the guide bolt the brakes work but still dont trust them fully.

Above is probably correct but a double check would be to look at the handbrake cable. If it goes into the hub its 93 jackeroo/trooper onwards. If it attaches to the calliper its the earlier type ie 88 - 91 jackeroo.
Ive heard of some 3.1 Mus with the earlier setup

Hi geeves its the one that goes into the hub couldnt belive how seized these bolts was and rusted the bottom ones on both sides was the worst cleaned them with wd40 and greased them so should move in and out now. Im also replacing the ball joints got them from pedders top and bottom $180.00 all up had to order them in. The ones in it look a bit worn also got camil shocks setup in the front of it as well.

Update on back brakes all good the calipers of 99 jackaroo where perfect fit no dramas also noticed they have mitsabushi stamps on them dont know what else they fit on mitsabushi models might be triton or some thing like it just a thought.

I have heard that the earlier calliper was also used on the Mitsi Magna but this is unconfirmed
