Wheels again!

Postby PureZoo » Sun Aug 01, 2010 1:39 pm

Hey all,

I guess this question has been asked several times, but i don't seem to be able to find an accurate answer any where.
I have a standard height 1998 wizard with factory 15 x 6.5" mag wheels.
Can someone tell me what is the standard offset (as not on the wheels) is on the wizard and what is the biggest rim (width) you can fit without a lift but playing with the offset (+) if possible.
I already have 255 70 15's Hankook Dynamic RA03's A/T's on at present which are fine for what I use it for, but they look to big for the 6.5" rims (255 = 10" tires).
I had bought some 9" wide with +30 offset after being told they were for the wizard, only to find they foul on the rear of the front guard opening when trying to get full lock.
Turns out they were for Toyota Land Cruiser. Looking at the originals I would guess (Now!) it has positive offset?
Replacing in the future with 275 or 295 tires, so trying to keep everything as a progressive upgrade if that makes sense.

Can anyone enlighten me?
Be gentle - LOL.

from what I have read 265/70/15 or 16s (can't remember) is about as big as you want to go without having cv issues on the front. Thats the size I am aiming for with a 2" body lift.

Hey captcol, the 255 70 15 I have on at the moment are easy fit (see photo) but are on 6.5" rims (standard).
As I want to go to larger tires in the future, I was trying to cover my bases - made one mistake, don't want to make another LOL.
Why would you have CV issues with wider tires, unless it because of more grip/torque?
Sorry newbie and full of questions.

Justin from Tauranga was running 33s on his with a small suspension and small body lift.
Dont think he had too many cv issues
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Just a little more info I forgot to mention.

I don't mind if I need to run some flares to keep the rim/tire combo legal here.
Once I find some nice flares for it that is, not those flexi things.

Are there any suppliers for fender flares in NZ, for the 98-04 Isuzu Wizard?
Has anyone seen the ones that "fully equipped" say they have for the Wizard or Rodeo?

Any info much appreciated.

Have been offered a swap on my mags (the ones that don't fit as above) for 15 x 7 fronts with -9 offset, and 15x8 rears with -15 offset.
Will these fit the UES73 Wizard?
