Postby Murderface0151 » Thu Jun 09, 2011 3:21 pm

hey guys

just got a question for you, how do i get to the front wheel bearings? i've never done this on a MU before and i lost my workshop manual :( and the one on here is broken (the file which you download, all 11 parts of it), so a bit of guidance would be appreciated

Take wheel off. (19mm Nuts) Remove cover on locking hub. (10mm Bolts) Remove cir clip holding inner hub gears to axle spline. Remove outer hub casing with inner gearing. (8mm Allan Key Cap bolts) (Yours may be different) Remove the brake slider bolt. (14mm Bolt) Remove the brake mechinisim. (22mm Bolts) Undo 3 small philips screws holding the retaining ring on. Remove retaining ring. Unscrew bearing holder. The brake disc should come off popping the front bearing off with it. the rear bearing should stay in the rotor housing as it is ment to have a seal holding it in.

Need any more help just yell out. I pulled mine apart 4 times each side over the last 2 months.

do you think there's any CV's that could be salvaged off another make/model that would offer a bit more strength?

only genuine ones are strong try find some 2nd hand ones. the factory ones seem to be green in colour on the housing that holds in the bearings and cage, well thats wat i have noticed anyways.

id hate to imagine the price of porsche ones as genuine ones from isuzu/holden are $1k new

Have to do one of my front wheel bearings after hitting a big wash this weekend, Am I right in assuming after the caliper, the and the bearing retainer ring, that the 2 metal half moons can be undone by tapping them anticlockwise with a screwdriver? I have tired this, they just seem really tight so want to know before I destroy them.

Kinda helps, I have got everything infront of part 6 off, part 8 won't come out. Does it undo? or pull out with the hub and rotor etc

tap it anticlockwise with a round punch Be carefull There are 3 small threaded holes and 2 larger holes. These are what you tap. On mine a tap or 2 to dislodge it is all thats ever needed then it just unscrews but corrosion of dry grease can jam it. Also if the bearing is very bad the thread might be damaged

trip to the wrecker for a complete stub axle assembly.
Those allen keys are typicaly grade 12.8 Wouldnt want to put a drill through them.
Had it been soaking in salt water?
