6 Speed Sequential Gear Box

Postby Isuzumu » Sun May 10, 2009 10:58 am

OK I am probably loosing it :? But I really like driving the Wizard, but I hate the auto box in it and would like to put a 6 SS auto box in it. Probably not possible, Bruce Garling has a 6 SS in the Dakar D-Max but I think it is a manual. I suppose I could steal one out of a VW Tourage and make an addaptor  Did someone here change their auto to manual?

Everything is possible. It just matters how much time and money you have. The cost of a good second hand 6 speed plus fitting will probably cost more than the Wizard did.
In the NZ 4wd Rally series there is a road legal series 1 Landrover running a V12 BMw engine.

I think someone told me it was about $15k for a box so its probably all wishfull thinking Alan. Next year we would like to buy a new vehicle and Isuzu are talking about bring in the MU 7, but it will probably only have the auto to, so we will go for a D-Max manual.

Overlander 4WD mag over here put the D-Max last in a test of twin cab utes, they said the gear box was "akin to stirrring a stick in a can of rusty ball bearing" it is the same box as in my MU I believe and who here has stuffed one, I use 5th gear heaps towing and I know another member tows quite heavy gear to and has had no problems. Oh the winner was a Hilux at $10k dearer.
Anyway time will tell :D Cheers Bruce
